Water Well Maintenance

A healthy well for a healthy you

Having an artesian well is not enough to guarantee high-quality, bacteria-free drinking water. This type of water well requires annual maintenance to prevent water-related problems.

With a simple water treatment, you can ensure year-round water quality for your home and a healthy artesian well.

At the slightest change in colour, smell or taste, it’s time to chlorinate your well.

  • Take advantage of a simple, effective annual procedure.
  • Check the general condition of your artesian well.
  • Prevent water-related problems like clogged pipes.
  • Guarantee safe drinking water for your home.
  • Enjoy peace of mind for the rest of the year.

Steps for Maintaining Your Artesian Well

01 Prepare for well maintenance

Prepare a supply of drinking water and, if you have a filtration system, set it to “By-Pass”.

02 Chlorinate your artesian well

Unscrew the well cover, empty the liquid chlorine and connect a garden hose to the cold water tank.

03 Diffuse chlorine throughout your system

Run water from the hose until you smell the chlorine, then spray down the walls of the well.

04 Circulate chlorinated water around the house

Open a tap, let the water run until you can smell the chlorine, and repeat with each tap.

05 Finalize the process

Leave to stand for 24 hours. Then run the water until it no longer smells of chlorine.
